Friday in Nashville

We are tired! Found our way to where breakfast was after passing a woman SCREAMING into her phone who scared everyone in the area.

Meeting with Don after his 10:30 conference call.

Oh what a night!

Al, JV, and I got to The Basement around 4:00. Parking was extremely tight!  Mitch, Kimsie, and Patti and their friends met us there. Somebody let us in and they started unloading Al's truck and setting up. There were a few glitches ( I think with cables) but it all got taken care of! Rich and Evan walked in as they were setting up. Luckily I had stalked their fb/LinkedIn info and recognized who they were. They said hello and went back outside while they finished setting up. Others there were John S.. Mike B (from lunch), April who we met last wkend in Auburn, Don VanCleave and his asst, Hampton, and lots of others I did not meet. Some were from John's office.
Carolyn and Thomas Stacey, Jennifer, Aly, Kate, and Josie, and Kerrie and Annagrace Weldon were there, too.

After talking to their new fans and packing up the equipment, we went to dinner at City House- JV, Al, Rich, Evan, Mitch, John, and I. Basically we came away knowing that both of the guys are interested in JV and will continue talking. Evan did ask me if they have passports.... I asked if we were going on a trip.:)

John said we will meet with Don tomorrow.

After leaving,  we went to our new hotel, the Opryland Hotel. Once in the parking lot it was QUITE the adventure. We mistakenly asked a security guy to help us find our room. Well as he was dragging us alll around that huge place, he told us he'd only worked there for 3 weeks. We had luggage AND music equipment. Finally he gave up ( he was VERY nice- just was very lost!) and called in the Cavalry in the form of our new hero, Abe the bell hop. Abe said we were REALLY far from where we should be. He got us to our rooms but Ansley and I couldn't get in. Sweet Abe tried and said you can tell by the click that they had the deadbolt on. We called and texted to ask Aly or AG to let us in but finally had to bang on the door. A very sleepy Aly let us in. Al, Jake , and Abe headed back out to the car to get the rest of the equipment. Oh! Will left us before Abe came to help us. His mom was in a room in the area where we got lost... So after 3 tries, Will found the way to his room. We figured he was asleep by the time Abe appeared.

Tomorrow we will meet with potential mgr, Don.

We all couldn't be any more proud of our kids for how they performed tonight. They've worked so hard and it is truly amazing to see dreams come true!

OH, what a night!!!

Ramblings

We are meeting the never shout never mgr at burger up soon. We just registered with bmi.
Hip hop guy Joseph Prielozny wants her to sing on tedashii song.
Talked to Laytoya at the bank about setting up trust account for bmi.
Jake said, "There's it!" When we saw the restaurant- Burger Up.

Had a nice lunch and good conversation with Mike at lunch re: managers and the music industry.

Finally got to stop by and meet the JV atty, John Strohm. We have no doubt that the band is in great hands with him! Johnny Cash and Elvis were the pillars of his law firm!

Now we are at The Basement waiting to get in to set up for the showcase!

Yee Ha cowgirl! Headed to Nashville!

Nashville!

Ansley and I left Auburn around 5. We stopped to eat at cpk at the summit. Then she tried on clothes at Urban Outfitters until they closed at 9. Quick stop at Cheesecake Factory for cheesecake to go and we headed to Nashville. Thank you Mapquest for getting us there. We stayed at the Hampton Inn across from the Opryland Hotel. We got there around 12 midnt. Al, Jake. and Will were already there and asleep- rm 416. We were next door in 414. At 5:00am everyone's phones went off because of a flash flood alert. Parts of Nashville are closed and they are rescuing people from the flooding. At breakfast we wondered about The Basement where JV will play tonight- doesn't sound like a good place to be in a flood.:) During breakfast we were entertained by the breakfast lady. She gave EVERYONE a hug and a box of "love"- Hampton inn mints and then she BURST into singing "Ease on Down the Road." A possibility for a future job for JV if the music biz doesn't work out- need to have something to fall back on.

I told Ansley this trip will be well documented and not to complain about me taking pics. So far so good but it's only 10am. She's already doing her hair for tonight.

John Strohm texted me this AM and wanted to know what our plans are. We are meeting with the mgr of Never Shout Never at lunch- time and place to be "figured out." We will call John after lunch and meet him at his office. We plan to be at The Basement by 4:30 I think. All times are central. They play at 6 and dinner is afterwards at 8:15. That will give us time to meet everyone and pack up their equipment and get to the restaurant.

Ck out is at 11 here. Thanks for the nice rooms, dad. This is a nice Hampton!
